Get Involved

The Burbank Parent Education Council and their activities add an additional dimension to being part of the Burbank Parent Education Program. By joining the council, you will have an opportunity to voice your opinions and ideas that will help shape our program and community in the future. It will also give you the chance to connect with like-minded, service conscious people. Lastly, it will get you “warmed up” for being a part of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), a program you will encounter at the public school level starting in Kindergarten. You can join the council by becoming a Council Representative or taking a position on the Executive Board. We look forward to seeing you!

Become a Council Representative

Although every student enrolled in the program is a member of the council, two representatives and two alternates are chosen from each Parent Ed class in September. Council Representatives support all Parent Education Council projects. They and/or their alternates attend a monthly Council Meeting and report back to their classes as a way of keeping everyone informed. Meetings are held once a month in the afternoon from September to May at the Burbank Adult School. Free childcare is provided in nearby rooms for all those who make reservations ahead of time. Food is also provided at every meeting, however, children should come already fed as there is no food permitted in the childcare room. Although the representatives have a special responsibility, all class members are encouraged to attend Council Meetings.

To become a Council Member, please contact or attend one of the monthly Council Meetings.

Join the Executive Board

An Executive Board, made up of class members, is elected annually and encompasses a variety of positions, from Membership Secretary to Entertainment to Community Service. This board meets for a monthly Board Meeting in the evening and also attends the monthly Council Meetings.
