Jenny, the Burbank Librarian, is here to give us her top three favorite books of the month. This month’s theme is winter. Check out the books she recommended below:
Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter by Kenard Pak (2017)
This story shows a brother and sister walking around town depicting the gradual change between seasons. The illustrations are beautiful, and the calm and peaceful story would make a great nighttime read.
No Two Alike by Keith Baker (2011)
This book offers simple illustrations and minimal text for a nice toddler read with winter scenes. Check out Baker’s other books, such as LMNO Peas and Big Fat Hen for some nice early literacy themes.
Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner (2011)
This is a fabulous picture book non-fiction read that shows children what animals do during the winter. What does it mean to hibernate? While a son and father cross-country ski, we find out about bears, bullfrogs, squirrels and more.
